Musicologist Jane Vial Jaffe serves as program annotator, essayist, consultant, and editor for orchestras, festivals, individual performing artists, and recording companies. She worked for twenty-nine years at the Aspen Music Festival and writes for the Manhattan School of Music, the Rome Chamber Music Festival, the Aiken and Stockton Symphonies, and the Parlance Chamber Concerts, among others. She has also written for such organizations as Carnegie Hall, the Kimmel Center, Caminos del Inka, Korea’s Great Mountains Music Festival, Toronto’s Royal Conservatory, and the orchestras of Chicago, Fort Worth, Long Beach, Philadelphia, and Seattle. Her liner notes appear on record labels including Chandos, Naxos, RCA Red Seal, and Samsung Classics.

Ms. Jaffe earned her doctorate at the University of Chicago, her master’s degree at the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, and her Bachelor of Music degree at the Oberlin Conservatory. She has taught and lectured about music to students of all grades at the Toledo Museum of Art and has periodically taught music history and music appreciation at the University of the Pacific and San Joaquin Delta College.
