Matt Jacobs

Matt Jacobs has been California Public Employees’ Retirement System General Counsel since 2014. Before joining CalPERS, Jacobs was a partner in and headed up the litigation practice of DLA Piper's Sacramento office. Before that, he served in both private and public sector law practices, including positions with the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Attorney's Office in Sacramento, where he served as First Assistant U.S. Attorney and Chief of the Criminal Division.

Jacobs serves on the boards of Women Escaping A Violent Environment (WEAVE) and the Northern California Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors. From 1997 through 2002, he served on the Sacramento City Planning Commission.
