Timothy J. Peterkin joined the McGeorge School of Law faculty as the Visiting Director of Academic Support and an Assistant Professor of Law, Legal Practice in August 2022. Peterkin has previously served in a similar role at the University of South Dakota School of Law and the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. 

Peterkin has previous experience as a legal writing professor at North Carolina Central University School of Law, where he served in this capacity for seven years. While at NCCU, Peterkin taught first-year and second-year legal writing courses. He also taught in a program for undergraduates that was designed to prepare them for law school.

Prior to his teaching career, Peterkin was an advocate for his clients in private practice where he concentrated on civil litigation, real estate and estate planning.

For over a decade, Peterkin has served as the Senior Lecturer with the legal education company, Law People USA, LLC, where he trains an average of one thousand licensed attorneys a year.
