McGeorge School of Law's three Centers of Distinction complement the innovative faculty scholarship, the comprehensive student education, and wide range of services to the local and global communities that happen at McGeorge.

Engaged faculty operating within the three Centers of Distinction challenge students in and out of the classroom and produce focused scholarship that contributes to thoughtful policymaking here and throughout the world.

Through tailored JD Certificate of Concentration, LLM (Master of Laws), and JSD (Doctor of Juridical Science) programs, the three Centers of Distinction allow students the opportunity to delve deeply into specialized areas of legal practice in small classes and policy seminars, through skills practice and competitions, and by means of hands-on learning in externships with courts, the legislature and government agencies.

The three Centers of Distinction house Institutes and Initiatives dedicated to contributing to the growth of the law in particular areas, such as sustainable development and ethics. Through these Institutes and Initiatives, faculty and students provide community service as they add to the development of the law
